Exclusive license discussions continue
Village has received confirmation this afternoon, that Vodafone CEO Aslam Khan, Telecom Boss Taito Tabaleka and FINTEL General Manager Sakaraia Tuilakepa are part of the negotiations along with ATH.
The formal negotiations started on Saturday and when contacted this afternoon ATH CEO Tomasi Vakatora said talks are still underway.
And as talks continue, it is understood that the parties are now trying determine how the 34.6% governemnt shares in ATH would be dispersed, to favor current ATH shareholders, if the government was to divest its investments in ATH as part of the agreement being put together. The parties are also understood to be formulating certain tax concessions in return to give up the exclusive licenses.
Village News received confirmation earlier that the issue of monetary compensation in return for the exclusive licenses has been taken off the negotiation table as the interim government is not in a position to make any such payout. The meeting continues this hour.
