The Public Service Commission has stressed that Government Ministries and departments who are found to have excess staff without any reason will be held accountable.

This comes after a head count of civil servants found that an estimated 6000 people listed under various Ministries are unaccounted for on the books and the PSC is not aware whether they remain on the government pay roll and how this discrepancy has come about.

PSC Chairman Josefa Serulagilagi said they are looking at ways to resolve the current situation.
