Suva Lawyer Rajendra Chaudhry has filed an appeal against the sentence handed down against his client, the former Nasinu Town Clerk Jaswant Kumar, 3 days after his sentence.

Kumar was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment last week after he was found guilty of Abuse of Office for gain for writing and then cashing a cheque worth $2,334.42 on May 26th, 2006.

Chaudry filed a notice of motion through affidavit that his client be granted bail while awaiting for the appeal on the grounds that Kumar=s mother is sick and needs to be taken care of.

FICAC has been given 7 days to file submissions.

The case has adjourned to 15th March for bail hearing.
