The reunion of the old scholars of St John's Cawaci which begins today, will see a number of solis or donations taking place to help improve the infrastructure and operations of the current school.
This has been confirmed by St John's College Principal Father Ekuasi Manu who said whatever they receive during this weekend's celebrations from the old scholars will truly be a blessing.
Around 2,000 St John’s Cawaci ex-students from the 1950s, 60s and 70s will converge in Cawaci, Levuka, today with the aim of restoring the school standard to what it once was.
One of the ex-scholar delegations will be led by Tongan Prime Minister Dr Feleti Sevele, who is currently in the old capital with his family.
St John's Cawaci, run by the Marist priests, sisters and brothers is one of the oldest Catholic schools in the country starting in 1893 and has taught people like Tonga PM Sevele, Catholic Church Head Archbishop Petero Mataca, former Police Commissioner Romanu Tikotikoca amongst others.
