Ex-Grammarian shares experience
That is the sentiment of Robert Harness one of the Grammarians in the 1940's, who was a student at Grammar Boys School that was situated in the capital.
Harness was addressing the students of Suva Grammar as well as former students and guests at the school Hall yesterday as they gathered to celebrate Suva Grammar's 50 years at Veiuto.
Harness said at the time the students would be taken to task for not having respect for their elders and teachers and even remembers the time when they would be punished for not having proper table manners.
Addressing the current students, Harness called for them to be proud that they were in a prestigious school by being well mannered and respectful.
Harness also spoke of the time during World War II when students in his time had to run for cover during air raids but still they found school enjoyable.
Yesterday marked 50 years since Grammar has been in Veiuto and a weeklong Golden Jubilee celebration is planned for July with Grammarians from all over the world expected to attend.
