Players fitness is the first thing that Digicel Fiji sevens rugby coach Ben Ryan will assess when he returns this week.

Ryan said he is looking forward to training and seeing how the 23 players in the national extended squad are as they have three weeks left for the USA 7s.

Ryan added that every player has a fair chance of making the cut for the next two legs as it will be based on a number of indicators.

Ryan also said he has a fair idea of what's needed in the team after the first three tournaments but it's not for public or media knowledge.

Yesterday Fijivillage asked Ryan how Fiji's inconsistent performance can be addressed after winning the plate in Gold Coast before pulling off one of the greatest wins in Dubai and then another plate win a week later in South Africa.

Ryan said Samisoni Viriviri and Benito Eremasi are the joint top try scorers in the series and the squad is the most inexperienced in terms of tournament caps out of all the World Series teams and everyone needs to be patient.

The former England coach added that all is getting better on and off the field and this is currently the most important thing.

Fiji is pooled with New Zealand, Australia and Scotland for the USA 7s which will be held from the 24th to the 27th of next month.
