Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says every family needs to buy a number of items when they do their shopping, not just a few items listed as basic items.

While making his formal response in the 2016 National Budget Debate, Sayed-Khaiyum listed a number of items needed by families and says the VAT reduction from 15 percent to 9 percent will assist these families.

Sayed-Khaiyum also says he is concerned about the opposition criticising the military and peacekeeping budget.

Sayed-Khaiyum also raised concern on NFP Leader, Biman Prasad raising issues about the government’s planned civil service reform.

The 2016 National Budget deliberations is now in the committee stages before the final vote is taken.
