Fiji Times Publisher and Australian national Evan Hannah has been deported.
Fiji Times Editor Netani Rika confirmed that Hannah was put on a flight to Korea at about 9:35 this morning.
Rika said their lawyers are now considering their next course of action after Hannah's deportation.
Meanwhile, High Court Judge Justice Filimoni Jitoko expects Fiji Times Publisher Evan Hannah to be presented before him in the Suva High Court this afternoon by the authorities who removed him from his home last night.
Court officials have confirmed to Fijivillage that there is an order for Hannah to be presented in court at 3pm. They refused to comment any further.
Justice Jitoko signed an order late last night stopping Hannah's deportation until an explanation is provided in court. However, it’s not known what will happen next as Hannah has been put on the flight to Korea.
Interim Defense and Immigration Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau will comment on the issue later this morning. Immigration Director Commander Viliame Naupoto is also expected to comment later this morning.
A group of police and immigration officers visited Hannah's home at about 7 o'clock last night.
The officers then told him that they had a deportation order for him and they have to take him to Nadi. Hannah left with the officers and when he was last contacted, he confirmed that he was on his way to Nadi. He could not make any further comments.
