Escapee Involved in MH Superfresh Robbery
Divisional Crime Officer Southern ASP Tevita Lesu confirms that the suspect who is in his 20s has been involved in a series of robberies in Viti Levu.
It has been established that the suspect was involved in a robbery in Legalega, Nadi, where a group of men terrorised and robbed a family a day before the Super Fresh robbery.
The suspect is also alleged to have been involved in a violent robbery in Lautoka over the weekend when a group of masked men robbed a businessman of cash and other items. Two of the family members were seriously injured after the attack.
He was arrested by a group of CID officers in Nausori. It is also alleged that he lied to officers about his name during the arrest, however, a CID officer from Namaka who was with the Strike Back Team recognised him and he was taken into custody.
He has been charged with escaping from lawful custody, robbery with violence and the unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is expected to be charged in relation to the Legalega and Lautoka robberies soon.
