There is a real need for mentoring in all aspects of leadership in the community whether it’s in the Vanua, Church, Private or Public Service.
Those were the words of the former Vice President, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi who spoke on the “Challenges that face indigenous leadership" in a public lecture at USP last night.
Ratu Joni said although Fijians have always responded to firm leadership, however the era for chiefs to lead has gone for good.
Meanwhile Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr Eci Nabalarua highlighted that the recent removal of indigenous leaders over the past seven months from both government and the public sector has left a large void in the area of leadership.
The public lecture was organized by QVS Old Boys as part of their 100 years Centennial Celebrations.
