Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has made his stand clear that equal iTaukei land lease distribution will continue for the landowners as he believes in fair and equitable returns.
Bainimarama stated this while speaking in parliament on the motion to debate the report on the petition for iTaukei Land Trust Board to review the distribution of lease to personal accounts and the land rent premised on Unimproved Capital Value.
Bainimarama says majority of the iTaukei landowners wanted equal distribution of lease money.
Although Bainimarama says he spoke to the iTaukei landowners, SODELPA MP Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu says they want all iTaukei landowners to be consulted.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee looking into the petition stated that it is satisfied with the performance carried out by TLTB and no further action is required. Majority of the parliamentarians agreed to this and the current policy on equal lease distribution will stand.
