This is the view of the Public Employees Union General Secretary Pita Delana, who said that the Public Service Commission does not realise, that amending the pay packet of unestablished staff will have a huge impact on their daily lives, as the amount that will be deducted will push them back to the poverty line.
This is after Permanent Secretary for the PSC Taina Tagicakibau confirmed that the pay amendment will be done over a two year period so that they will be able to recover the overpayment of salaries dating back to 1991.
The meeting of the Provincial Youth Forum will this year look at youth development and the increase in the number of violence against children cases.
Rupeni Silimaibau, the Project officer for the Forum, said that the Forum meeting which will be held in the first week of next month, will be taking into account the many aspects in a youth's life that need to be addressed.
The Forum which consists of youth representatives of the 14 provinces in Fiji and a representative from Rotuma, is responsible for the development of youths within the 15 provinces and has the backing of the Interim Administration to look into issues such as AIDS, and the development of rural sporting facilities for the development of sports.
The Forum holds an Annual General Meeting every five years to look at the progress of the various provinces. It was established in 2003 for the development of youths and the development of indigenous youths.
The AGM will be held on the 9th of November.
