The Water Authority of Fiji engineers will be laying a new 100mm polyethylene underwater pipe across from Lokia to Naililili in Rewa today.

In a statement it said once the work is completed the new pipe will increase capacity and pressure to villages of Lomanikoro, Nabua, Nadoi, Drekena, Tavuya, Nukui and Vutia at the lower end of the Rewa Delta.

In a statement it said the 431-metre pipe will be partly submerged for a while before it is anchored so members of the public who use this portion of the river are advised to take precaution when going about their daily activities.

The exercise will begin at 12 mid day until 7pm daily until the work is completed which is expected to be finished next week.
