Divisional Engineer Roads Northern, S.A Fernando is urging motorists to take precaution while driving through the Lomaloma stretch between the Labasa and Savusavu highway.
Fernando has defended the conditions of the road between Labasa and Savusavu saying people only need to be careful when driving.
He has denied claims that last week’s fatal accident in Lomaloma, which claimed one life, was due to the bad road condition or because the road couldn't hold the weight of the 20 tonne vehicle.
A 48 year old man lost his life on the Lomaloma stretch last week after the truck he was travelling in, slid 37 meters down a slope, which resulted in his death.
