Tonga's Prime Minister Doctor Feleti Sevele stressed that the best option for the international community to take is to engage with Fiji rather than isolating it from the dialogue process.
With the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum set to kick off in Vanuatu later this week minus Fiji due to its current suspension, Doctor Sevele has told Radio Australia that Fiji needs to be assisted and no country from outside Fiji can tell the government on what should be done.
Doctor Sevele has also raised the question on what other options are available to the international community if it decides not to assist Fiji.
Meanwhile, Australia's Foreign Affairs Minister Stephen Smith has announced he will go to the Pacific Islands Forum in Vanuatu this week.
Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard is not attending the forum because of the election campaign.
But Smith has now announced he will be at the meeting on Wednesday and Thursday.
The forum was also on during the election in 2007 and the Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, went in place of the Prime Minister John Howard.
