Some employers may be given more time to try and comply with the new Wage regulations if they can convince the Minister for Labour that they are unable to shoulder the added costs.
Chairman of the Wages Council Father Kevin Barr said the Ministry will have the final say on the matter after a thorough scrutiny of the Business' or company's accounts.
The new wage regulations came into effect on July 1st and according to Fr Barr the information that they have received suggests that most employers are now paying the increased wages to their staff.
