Employees unsure of future
Transport Workers Union General Secretary Kamlesh Kumar which represents 100 of the company's 170 workers said workers have not been paid since the 1st of May.
Kumar said the Fiji Development Bank has actually taken control of the properties as he understands Air Fiji owes a lot of money to the Bank.
He added they have written again to Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama, the Tuvalu government, and management of Air Fiji, stressing the need to schedule a meeting to find out where the company is headed, especially with so many people's lives affected by the closure.
The airline’s offices remain closed and all their 11 aircrafts are still grounded since late April.
Meanwhile, the Consumer Council said they have been receiving complaints from customers who have bought tickets in advance or who have had their flights cancelled.
Chairman Narendra Padarath said customers have paid money to Air Fiji for service which they have not received and they have a right to receive a refund.
The Council is urging authorities to investigate the company as people have paid money and it appears the company has closed for good as its phones are no longer functioning and there appears to be no offices open for customers seeking a refund.
