Employees Resume Work
Fiji Water Director External Affairs David Roth said he is happy with the decision made by the interim government to scrap the 20 cents tax imposed on the local sale and export of bottled mineral water.
The same sentiment was expressed by Island Chill Director Jay Dayal who said that while the tax was still in place, they had faced a lot of problems.
The interim government yesterday announced the removal of the 20 cents per litre excise and 20 cents per litre export taxes which were earlier approved by the interim cabinet and implemented by the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority.
Dayal added he is happy with the fact that they didn't have to resort to extreme measures.
Meanwhile, Aqua Pacific's Mohammed Altaaf said the 30 employees they had sent home are back at work and everything will be back to normal today.
All three companies have confirmed that the court action pending against the interim government will be withdrawn.
