It is an emotional Mother’s Day for eight-year-old Karalaini Tubunawasa from Kadavu as she remembers her late mother Seruwaia Rokosere and her younger sister, Paulini Tubunawasa who died in an accident at the Suva Bus station more than a week ago.

Karalaini’s father, Jacoro Tukana said his daughter could not hold back her tears as she woke up this morning and saw the women in her village of Nabukelevu-i-ra dressed in white to attend the church service.

He said Karalaini told him that she missed the love and care of her mother.

He said they are spending the Mother’s Day with Karalaini’s grandparents at Qalira where her late mother hails from.

45-year-old Seruwaia Rokosere and her three-year-old daughter Paulini Tubunawasa were crossing between two buses when the incident occurred.

Meanwhile, the Methodist Church of Fiji is celebrating Mother’s Day today.

Communication Secretary, Reverend James Bhagwan said the church honours the mothers who will lead the main services in all churches.

He said the church also honours the nurturing role our mothers play in the lives of our families.
