Education is the first response to emergencies and disasters.
That is the aim of the "Emergency in Education" workshop currently being held at the Holiday Inn by the Education Ministry with the support of UNICEF.
UNICEF Education Specialist Dr. Nikhat Shameem said the workshop is aimed at preparing the Education Ministry on responding to emergencies after a disaster.
Dr Shameem said that usually after a disaster there is a lack of sufficient attention given to the educational needs of children.
The workshop ends on Friday.
