British singer Elton John has paid a moving tribute to All Blacks great Jonah Lomu at a concert in Wellington.
In what may have been his last performance in New Zealand, Elton John dedicated one of his best known songs – “Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me” ‑ to the rugby great.
His moving dedication preceded the first public service to remember Lomu which was attended by people from around New Zealand at a Tongan Methodist Church.
A No.11 was taped above the church's entrance.
A separate private service and a large public one are currently being planned.
