Brumbies captain Rocky Elsom has been given the nod by Wallabies coach Robbie Deans to captain the side for Saturday's Test match against Fiji in Canberra Stadium.

Elsom will have the support of experienced players like David Pocock, Dean Mumm, Stephan Hoiles, Richard Brown, Mark Chisholm, Nathan Sharpe and Alexander Ben in the forwards.

The Queensland Reds combination of Will Genia and Quade Cooper will lead the backline that boasts players like Matt Giteau, Adam Ashley Cooper, James O'Connor and Drew Mitchell.

Although official Tests between the two countries have been relatively scarce in recent times; representative matches have been played between Australia and Fiji, with the Australians operating under the guise of Australia A.

As a result, a large number of the current Wallabies squad has been exposed to playing Fiji.

No less than nine members of the Wallabies team have played against Fiji in the Pacific Nation Cup when they represented the Australia A team against the Flying Fijians in 2007 and have the likes of Lachie Turner, Digby Ioane, Ryan Cross, Berrick Barnes, David Pocock, James Horwill, Dean Mumm and Tatafu Polota Nau.

Fiji last played the Wallabies during the 2007 Rugby World Cup in the pool games where they lost 55-12.

The Flying Fijians and Wallabies Test match on Saturday night kicks-off at 9.40pm.
