The Electoral Commission has maintained that they will propose a number of changes in the Electoral Act as the current act has politically and racially divided the country.

While opening the Election Workshop at Suva's Nobel House this morning, chairman M.K. Khan told participants that the commission does not have powers to implement changes in the act, however, they can recommend areas which need changes.

Khan added that the changes in the Electoral Act are necessary to have free and fair elections next year.
