A former Mayor has called on the Elections Office to assist all municipalities once there are new elections.
Businessman Charan Jeet Singh said that in the past, the elections office has assisted in ensuring that there are fair and just elections and now is the tine for such assistance.
This follows the move by the Interim Minister for Local Government, Filipe Bole in extending the term of all municipal council members to oversee the adoption of the Local Governance Review Committee.
Charan said that this Committee has gone through all Councils and are going to table their recommendations to the Interim Cabinet and in order for these recommendation carried out professional assistance is needed.
The review team headed by Aruna Pillay was appointed last year to oversee the work of the various Councils.
