Former Supervisor of Elections Semesa Karavaki stressed that elections can be held in 2009.
He said this can only be done if the Elections Office works independently and does not wait for anything or anyone else to confirm something which maybe outside the constitution.
Karavaki said the Elections Office should be fully operational in preparing the elections by this stage, as the constitution and the Electoral Act is clear on what should be done.
The Elections Office is expected to comment later today.
