A 73 yr old man of Kadavu has today pleaded guilty to the charge of indecently assaulting a 6 yr old girl.

The elderly man told the court today that he opted to represent himself.

The court heard that in December last year, the 73 year old invited the girl to his house who was on her way to her aunt's place and indecently assaulted her.

The matter was later reported to the Kadavu Police Station by the girl=s relatives.

In mitigation, the man asked for forgiveness and asked the court to consider his old age and that he is also deaf.

Magistrate Makereta Mua remanded the man in custody and he will be sentenced on the 28th of this month.
