With the increase on the world scene of the price of wheat, the largest supplier of eggs in the country, Ram Sami and Sons is looking at also increasing their prices.

Speaking to Fijivillage News, Ram Sami and Sons Executive Officer, James Lee said the move cannot be avoided as the wheat is one of the staple diets for their chickens.

According to Lee, the last time they implemented an increase was last month, where the cost for a dozen of eggs increased by ten cents.

However, Lee said the company wants to ensure people get the cheapest source of protein which is in eggs.

Yet, he adds they may consider increasing it this month as global trends are affecting production.

The Price and Incomes Board will look at the many submissions for price increases and is expected to make a statement next week.
