Efforts are being made to try and attract more fishing vessels to our shores to offload their fish by-catch in Fiji.

Permanent secretary for Fisheries Commander Viliame Naupoto said there are around 1,400 fishing vessels operating in the Pacific and only a hand full use Fiji as an offloading center for by-catch.

Naupoto said he is holding a number of meetings with relevant stakeholders to attract more vessels to come to our shores.
