The Education Ministry is trying to discourage schools to hold fund-raising activities as parents continue to face hardships in sending their children to school.

Some parents have raised concern that schools continue to ask for funds from students every year.

A concerned parent told Fijivillage News that three of his children go to the same school and they have been told to pay $20 each for fund-raising which is too much.

Minister, Filipe Bole said some schools have formed a habit of fund-raising however they have called on schools to minimize this as the ministry is paying for the school fees.

He has stressed that the government has not issued a directive to stop all fund-raising activities in schools.
