Education key to breaking poverty
This is the view of FENC Fiji, an organization first developed from the Peoples Charter on the need to help people living below the poverty line, and one of their main concerns is that children will be caught up in this cycle.
A research carried out by FENC Fiji revealed that from 1970 there has been an increase in poverty, and figures show that 9 to 40% of Fiji's population now lives below the poverty line.
FENC Fiji is aiming to ensure that the children of the poorest of the poor people in Fiji have access to education.
Treasurer of the Board of Trustees Raj Sharma revealed yesterday that they received a timely donation of $120,000 from J.W Holdings Limited and Sigatoka Electric Limited.
The launch of FENC FIJI will be marked by events in Lautoka, Labasa and Suva.
This included the Health Ministry and FENC Fiji Health Walk from 6 this morning.
FENC Fiji will be officially launched by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama tonight.
