The Ministry of Education has today withdrawn its expression of interests called for teaching positions following the High Court ruling in favor of the Fijian Teachers Association on August 13th.

Permanent Secretary for Education Emi Rabukawaqa said in complying with the court order delivered by Judge Justice Filimoni Jitoko, they have decided to stop processing applications in relation to the expression of interest called earlier.

In his ruling where Justice Jitoko ordered that the interim government can not withhold the pay for the striking members of the FTA for the two weeks school break, he also stressed that the Ministry can not take steps to fill positions within the Ministry currently held by members of the FTA.
