The Education Ministry is analysing the current weather situation as of now and will make a decision later this afternoon on whether schools will resume tomorrow.
Minister for Education, Filipe Bole said the Permanent Secretary and his team are on the ground right now, analysing the weather reports before a final decision is made.
Meanwhile, the Works Ministry is calling on the public to store water as Tropical Cyclone Tomas moves closer to the Fiji group which is expected to interrupt water supply for the next two days, while the Fiji Electricity Authority says people must store candles as gale force winds can bring down power lines once it starts affecting the group.
DISMAC and other Emergency response Units are ensuring that all communications remain intact between the various divisions during the height of the approaching cyclone and afterwards.
At a press conference yesterday, DISMAC Official Anthony Blake confirmed that they want to ensure that there is no breakdown in communication between Viti Levu, Vanua Levu and the outer islands as was experienced during Tropical Cyclone Ami.
Blake said all government Disaster response agencies are now activated and ready to assist the people.
He urged the public to take the cyclone alert seriously and get prepared.
