The Education Ministry has come out in support of Earth Hour which is just 14 days away.

Interim Education Minister Filipe Bole said small island nations like Fiji are affected by climate change which is recognized as one of the biggest global threats to economic development, social and environmental security.

Bole said teachers are explaining to students about the effects of climate change and all teachers and students have been encouraged to switch of all unnecessary lights on 28th of this month from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

Meanwhile, the Events Coordinator, Kim Beddoes said they have a school package to encourage students to understand what it means to switch off the lights.
