The Ministry of Education is closely monitoring the teacher recruitment scheme that is being facilitated by the Fijian Teachers Association, and will not hesitate to take further action against the FTA, if it is seen to be encouraging the recruitment of serving teachers to Australian schools.
The Ministry has expressed its concern to the FTA where teachers are being recruited to teach at the Australian schools under the "Smart Teachers of Australia".
FTA general secretary Maika Namudu said they are only assisting retired teachers, who are without employment to access the Smart Teachers website.
Meanwhile, the Ministry also discourages serving teachers from being tempted by the scheme, as government has invested a lot of their training, and they need to reciprocate to serve and teach in Fiji.
