The Ministry of Education has been provided with an update on the flood rehabilitation work conducted in all flood affected schools.

The estimated cost of damage stands at $1.3 million and the Ministry had already identified and approved the sources from within its budget that will fund all flood damages in schools.

Interim Education Minister Filipe Bole said schools that were affected will have damaged furniture and equipment replaced.

With students returning to school today, Bole said all Head Teachers and Principals have been requested to conduct a survey to find out the number of students who will need exercise books, writing materials and other school stationery.

He said this list is to be submitted to Head Quarters and the materials will be purchased immediately.

In addition to this, the payment of tuition fees into school accounts is currently being facilitated. According to Bole, the amount that will be distributed to the flood affected schools is $469,000.
