Education Minister opens Fashion Show
That is the sentiment of Education Minister Filipe Bole as he officially opened the Fiji Fashion Week show last night.
Bole who officially opened the Catwalk said Government has recognised the need to boost the fashion industry which brings in employment and economic stability.
He adds that this is another reason as to why they have introduced fashion studies to secondary schools from Form 3-7 as well as at the Fiji Institute of Technology.
Bole adds that in the long term the Fiji Government will be looking at boosting the Fashion industry further, and one way is to induce and popularise fashion designing in school, so that the industry would grow and become competitive which would in turn generate revenue.
The Fiji Fashion Week kick started last night with a huge display of designs from young and upcoming designers who used their natural surroundings as motivation for their clothes.
Today is the chance for guests to witness more designs from emerging artists like Aliyah Jan, Amelia Soqonavere as well as Elaine Taylor.
