Economy Depends On Road Standards
After a meeting with the engineers, Timoci Natuva also stressed that it was taxpayer’s money and therefore, to ensure that it was used properly, the roads needed to show the importance placed on the two industries.
Speaking to Fijivillage, spokesperson for the Ministry Sainiana Waqanibete said that after visiting roads in Nadi, Momi Bay and in Lautoka, Natuva informed engineers that two of Fiji's important industries, Tourism and Sugar, both need infrastructure which will see more investment coming in.
This is after Natuva completed a four day tour of the West last week, where he concluded that the roads were satisfactory to use and reminded bus operators that if they continued to complain and stop servicing the routes, then the Ministry will relook at their licenses.
The tour group comprising of senior road engineers and the interim minister, visited Valley Road, the interior roads in Sigatoka all the way to Ba.
