The Nadi Weather office has called on residents living in the Eastern and Central Viti Levu and also nearby islands to brace themselves for strong winds as a Tropical Depression moves over Vanua Levu.
Director Rajendra Prasad said strong winds can cause minor damages and people should take precautions. He said it’s unclear by when the tropical depression will form into a tropical cyclone.
The Tropical Depression was located just to the West of Savusavu and about 40km North-North-East of Labasa. The tropical depression is moving south-east at 20km per hour.
Heavy rain can cause flooding in low lying areas, rivers and creeks.
