An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck close to Kadavu at around 5:30 yesterday afternoon.
The earthquake was located at about 24 km Northeast of Buliya Island, Kadavu and 80km Southeast of Matuku Island in Lau.
The Mineral Resources department confirmed the earthquake originated at a depth of 27km below the surface and was felt around the Government Buildings area and much closer areas.
