The Mineral Resources Department said an earthquake was recorded just after 8 o'clock this morning.

Senior Seismologist Lasarusa Vuetibau confirmed this to Fijivillage News, adding that the earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale was recorded with the epicenter in Northern Bua, and those living in and around Lekutu would have felt the earthquake.

Vuetibau said the earthquake posed no threat and they have not received any reports of damages as yet.
