An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale occurred at about 111.1km East South East of Vunisea, Kadavu at around midday today.

Lands Permanent Secretary Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni confirmed the earthquake originated at a depth of 34km below the surface.

He said reports felt in Vunisea and nearby vicinity but no damages expected to be triggered from this minor quake.

Lt Leweni said people who felt the earthquake and wish to give more information are requested to contact the Mineral Resources Department on 3381 611.
