You may be scared to have a checkup but if you love your family, you would come forward.
That is the desperate plea from the Fiji Cancer Society as they raise awareness on Breast Cancer this month.
Society President, Nirmala Naambiar said that what the general public do not that while cancer detected in its early stages has a ninety percent chance of survival, leaving it too late will see families lose the most important person in their lives.
The Society had earlier revealed that with every case of cancer reported, there is a death recorded and Naambiar said this should push people to come forward.
The 2009 figures from the Ministry of Health report 60 new cases of Breast Cancer, 90 for Cervical Cancer and 35 new cases for Men's Cancers.
Total reported new cases for 2009 B 372.
As awareness campaigns are being held right throughout the month, special services are being held in different parts of the country.
