Firefighters have rushed to the Parade Arcade building in Suva after a fire started from the 5th floor in the last half hour.
Our reporter at the scene confirms that four fire tenders arrived in the last hour at the building located at Victoria Parade.
A number of firefighters are inside the building. Huge flames and thick black smoke is emanating out of the 5th floor of the building and the fire is spreading.
Firefighters could not enter the building from the front entrance along Victoria Parade and have now managed to enter the building through the back entrance.
It is understood that no one was inside the building when the fire started.
Motorists are advised that part of Victoria Parade near the main ANZ House leading to Parade Arcade is closed to all traffic while Joske Street which is located behind the building is closed to all traffic.
Police are advising people to stay away from the building and not to come and just see what is happening as it will make things difficult for the police and the firefighters. People please stay out from the area of the fire as police officers have also mobilized to cordon off the area and chase bystanders. Stay with us for developments.
