The European Union has set aside an estimated $1 billion to assist the Pacific region.

Head of the EU delegation to the Pacific Ambassador Wiepke Van Der Goot, revealed that the money has been allocated for national and regional development funding between 2008 and 2013.

Van Der Goot said the EU’s main priority at the national levels for the Pacific are water and renewable energy adding that the EU continues to work with Pacific-ACP states not only in terms of development but also in political terms.
