European Commission has assured that 2006 assistance for Fiji's sugar industry will be released soon.
Councillor for Sugar, Ritva Sallmen told Village News that bulk of the money will only be given following Interim Government's commitment to EU.
Head of the EU Delegation Robert Ridolfi said earlier that ten months have been lost in consulting for sugar assistance for 2007, due to the events of December 5th so the Council of the European Union has decided that there will be no assistance this year as allocated for 2007.
Ridolfi warns that 2008 assistance may be lost if commitments are not fulfilled by the interim government.
