Those living in over 28 severely affected locations in Fiji will soon have access to safe water restored following an agreement between the European Union and the United Nations Children's Fund to repair water and sanitation infrastructure damaged by the flash floods in January.

The EU has committed 715,000 dollars to help out and Ambassador Wipke Van Der Goot said the EU is reconfirming its solidarity with the flood victims.

UNICEF rep, Dr Isiye Ndombi while accepting and appreciating the commitment said this is a great example of post disaster rehab efforts.

Equipment to be bought include sanitation facilities, 50 water tanks with the capacity to hold up to 5,000 litres of water in villages, schools and health centres, pipes and fittings in 28 villages will be replaced and water intakes and pipeworks will be repaired.
