The European Union today handed over a cheque of $1,500,000 to the Ministry of Education to help with the rehabilitation of the schools that were damage by Cyclone Tomas.

Head of the EU for the Pacific, Ambassador Wiepke van der Goot presented the cheque to the Deputy Secretary for Education Josefa Sania at a ceremony today.

Wiepke-van-der Goot said the total money is $2.05 million which is the EU's total contribution to the Cyclone Tomas Disaster relief operations as an initial sum of $1 million was handed over at the end of March.
