The Climate Change Conference continues in Copenhagen with the European Union now freshly committing to do all they can to help poor countries.

Radio Australia reports that at a meeting of EU leaders, more than eleven and a half billion dollars was pledged over the next three years to help poor countries combat rising sea levels, deforestation, water shortages and carbon emissions.

It has been reported that other industrialized nations will also pledge many more billions.

Announcing the decision, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said the EU would also push to reduce its emissions by 30 per cent by 2020.

Meanwhile, a document prepared by the summit's chairman calls on developed countries to cut their emissions by between 25 and 45 percent from 1990 levels by 2020.
