After the completion of the Fiji Education Sector Programme at the end of this year, almost all students in Fiji will have experienced the positive results of this European Union assistance.
These were the words made by the Head of the European Union Delegation to the Pacific Wiepke van der Goot who said that they have accomplished a massive leap forward in education over the last six years especially for rural and remote primary schools.
He added although Fiji is well on track for reaching the Millennium Development Goal on universal primary education, it would be shortsighted to rest on these achievements.
He said their recent assistance towards Bemana Catholic Primary and Junior Secondary School is an important part of their contribution towards the achievement these goals.
The assistance includes a new dormitory for the primary school, two teacher’s quarters, a boat, an outboard engine and a new generator for both schools.
