After years of dialogue and debate, the Employment Relations Promulgation comes into effect from tomorrow and the Interim Minister for Labour said it is a major achievement for the workers of the country.
Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi said his ministry is ready to enforce the requirements under the ER Promulgation.
Vayeshnoi added that ample time has been given to employers to make arrangements for the changes being brought in.
The Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions President Maika Namudu said they have no option but to accept the new regulation after their attempts to stay the implementation of the ER Promulgation was struck out by the High Court yesterday.
And the Fiji Nursing Association General Secretary Kuini Lutua said they are concerned that many employers and employees still do not know the details of what is contained in the new labour laws.
